Alstom Renewable Power Canada Inc. of Sorel-Tracy, part of the GE group, has once again called on the expertise of J2. Over the course of a new one-year agreement, members of the J2 team will act as commodities buyers, a prime role in the acquisition of major parts at Alstom.

“This is a significant agreement for us. In addition to the highly interesting challenges of the mandate itself, what sets this agreement apart from others is without question its duration,” said Marie-Josée Lepage, General Manager at J2. Over the past five years, agreements with Alstom have generally been concluded for an initial term of three months. Although they have typically been extended for a few months at a time, the fact that Alstom has committed itself for a fixed period of 12 months is a gratifying token of trust for J2.

One aspect of the new agreement did pose a challenge for J2, however. Given the distance between its customer and its team members’ place of residence, J2 needed to find a creative solution to mobilize its resources to participate in the mandate. The company proposed to Alstom that the J2 team should work three days in Alstom’s offices, and two days at J2. “That way, we were able to mobilize excellent resources,” Lepage added. A win-win situation for the customer, J2 and its employees.
